    Get PDF
Water is essential for life and the way we use water in our activity has a direct impact on the environment. The Report of the Public Health Institute on drinking water quality from urban localities highlighted that the total population potentially exposed to the risk, taking into consideration the age of the distribution networks, water source quality and parameters, is estimated to be about 9.8 million inhabitants in urban areas. The paper analyses the main factors that affect the quality of drinking water, in the conditions than 100 million people in the European region still do not have access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation and the quality of the water supply and sanitation services has deteriorated continuously over the past 15 years, with the rural population being most affected.nitrate contamination, leakage, drinking water, wastewater treatment

Dal latino iam agli esiti nelle lingue romanze: verso una configurazione pragmatica complessiva*

    Get PDF
The aim of this paper is to analyse a pragmatic marker from a pragmatic perspective, which is based both on the ‘global configuration’ of the relevant features and a prototype model. We will follow the diachronic development from Latin iam to its derivative forms in Romance languages, where the original values subsist, are reduced or augmented. The values shown in the fields of temporality (along the axes of past, present and future), aspectuality (particularly with regard to phasal features which characterise both iam and its Romance derivatives forms) and modality (with regard to different degrees of ‘expectation/sharing/presuppositionality and ‘emphasis/strengthening’ coming from the speaker’s commitment) are already present in Latin; only Rumanian testifies to the temporal value; Sardinian, Spanish, Portuguese display many modal features; Italian and French lie in an intermediate situation (even though not identical), where temporal and aspectual features are represented with a reduced presence of modal ones.

Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Iasi, Romania. The 75th anniversary of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova (1945-2020)Background: Guanine deletion 35delG in GJB2 exon 2 is the pathogenic mutation responsible for up to 70% of cases of congenital non-syndromic sensorineural hearing loss (NSHL) among Europeans. The early molecular diagnostic of hearing loss nature has become important while considering the cochlear implants. The purpose of this study was to establish the frequency of 35delG deletion in GJB2 gene among patients with severe NSHL and its prevalence among Moldovan residents with normal hearing. Material and methods: 40 patients with congenital bilateral profound NSHL and 300 individuals with normal hearing were examined for deletion 35delG, by using Custom TaqMan SNP genotyping Assay. Results: 12 (30%) patients with homozygous genotype for 35delG mutation were identified, whereas 8 patients (20%) were heterozygous. The study reported 4 (1.33%) carriers of 35delG mutation among 300 Moldovan individuals with normal hearing. Conclusions: The present study results suggest a need for including the 35delG molecular testing into the national program of neonatal screening of hearing loss. Considerations on the genetic carrier testing should be made in genetic counseling and family planning

Modeling of Thermal Conductivity in Gas Field Rocks

    Get PDF
The thermal conductivity of rocks is a property necessary to be determined at the beginning of the exploitation of oil and gas deposits, both for the design of secondary extraction (hot water injection, steam) and for the development of tertiary extraction technologies (CO2 injection, injection flue gas, and initiation of underground combustion). In this chapter, we present a new method for determining the thermal conductivity of rocks and we also analyzed the relationships between this parameter and the properties of oil and gas collector rocks (density, porosity)

Challenges Regarding the Performance of Public Investment Projects

    Get PDF
Investments, approached as a factor influencing the future, have an essential role in economic growth and development by stimulating the production process and by creating new, high-performing structures that are correlated with the specific needs of individuals and society. From the point of view of access to resources, but also of economic-social competition, economic development generates a higher level of performance, certified on the basis of qualitative and quantitative evaluation processes. In this context, the analysis system of investment projects must be based on operational principles and instruments with medium and long-term impact, capable of aligning with strategic visions. In this paper, based on the research carried out in the specialized literature and the analyzed studies regarding public investments, we identify the current challenges regarding the performance of public investment projects and propose a series of criteria for evaluating the performance of public investments and a sequence of stages to ensure the elimination of non-performing projects at the local, regional and national level. The results of the present research reveal the inadequate prioritization of public investments to ensure adequate sustainability and offer us the opportunity to develop new research directions in the following works in which we will analyze the impact that inadequate prioritization has on the sustainability of local, regional and national communities

Determination of Silver(I) by Differential Pulse Voltammetry Using a Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified with Synthesized N-(2-Aminoethyl)-4,4′-Bipyridine

    Get PDF
A new modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE) based on a synthesized N-(2-aminoethyl)-4,4′-bipyridine (ABP) was developed for the determination of Ag(I) by differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). ABP was covalently immobilized on GC electrodes surface using 4-nitrobenzendiazonium (4-NBD) and glutaraldehyde (GA). The Ag(I) ions were preconcentrated by chemical interaction with bipyridine under a negative potential (−0.6 V); then the reduced ions were oxidized by differential pulse voltammetry and a peak was observed at 0.34 V. The calibration curve was linear in the concentration range from 0.05 μM to 1 μM Ag(I) with a detection limit of 0.025 μM and RSD = 3.6%, for 0.4 μM Ag(I). The presence of several common ions in more than 125-fold excess had no effect on the determination of Ag(I). The developed sensor was applied to the determination of Ag(I) in water samples using a standard addition method

Grape by-Products: Potential Sources of Phenolic Compounds for Novel Functional Foods

    Get PDF
Grapes occupy an important position in the human diet, providing both macronutrients and micronutrients indispensable for growth and development. Grapes contain enzymatic and non-enzymatic (nutritional) antioxidants, such as ascorbic acid and bioflavones. High amounts of these valuable compounds are removed through processing, when the skin and the seeds are separated from the pulp. During the vinification process, a large amount of grape pomace is generated that constitutes an important source of value-added products such as phenolic compounds, mainly flavonoids, phenolic acids, and stilbenes. Valorization of wine industry by-products like grape pomace is a suitable strategy for recovering bioactive compounds (mainly polyphenols) and reducing the environmental impact of this industrial waste. The circular bioeconomy refers to maintaining the value of the biological resources in economy for as long as possible, minimizing the waste production. Recovery and utilization of pomace from grape process favors closing the loop to ensure the abovementioned circularity. The experimental screening performed was designed to assess several indices of the polyphenolic composition of several grape byproducts (pomace, steams, and skin and seed mixture), such as total polyphenolic content, total flavonoid content, and their antioxidant activity, for two white grape Romanian varieties (i.e., Fetească Albă and Tămâioasă Românească)
